Faced with the new and unfamiliar, many of us unfortunately seek shelter or protection and this has led to the spread of ‘identikit’ hotels with little to offer in the way of experience and trapped in convention. We wanted a better way. We had an idea to create a sanctuary where the world’s free thinkers can belong. And so Locke was born - distinctively designed hotels, firmly rooted in the local neighbourhood and offering vibrant experiences and connections which nourish and enliven the soul.
Our desire to inspire soulful hospitality is taking us on a journey of evolution and growth, making our presence felt in major cities across the UK and Europe. We entrust our vision, purpose and brand to the hands of our Managers. It’s a big responsibility and this is why we seek and develop unique individuals to lead the charge.
In an (overly simplistic) nutshell our Assistant General Managers are;
- Confident and creative individuals, as outgoing as they are passionate about what they do
- Entrepreneurial – with a nose for opportunity and the drive to deliver
- Endlessly curious – curators of cultural experiences and the anchors of the local neighbourhood
- Someone with 2+ years in a similar role
But most importantly they are humans like us. We don’t believe in a work persona, we avoid hierarchy and we lead with empathy and honesty.
We believe that the art of hospitality has suffered as hotel teams have been over-loaded with the complexity of revenue management and commercial targets. We free our hotel teams from this burden, and empower our Managers to deliver the brand, curate experiences, lead their teams and astonish our guests.
Our Managers don’t shy away from the fundamentals either; from H&S responsibility to cost control, to reports, SLA’s and SOPs – they’re all there but we manage them with soul.
